Comprehensive Care for Your Vision
At Toronto Medical Eye Associates, we take a proactive, personalized approach to eye care.
Comprehensive eye exams help to protect and preserve your vision and ocular health. Adults who wear eyeglasses or contact lenses should come in for annual eye exams. Even if you don’t need glasses, an eye exam every 1 to 2 years ensures that your eye health is being cared for and managed.
Book your next eye exam with us today and stay ahead of visual changes and eye disease.
What to Expect During Your Eye Exam
Your eye exam is tailored to your unique needs. We’ll review your medical history and lifestyle to ensure we provide the right care for you.
During your eye exam, you’ll participate in a variety of assessments to check your prescription and look for any signs of eye disease. These assessments typically include:
- Visual acuity test: Using an eye chart, your optometrist will measure the ability of each eye to focus on certain letters.
- Refraction testing: Your eye doctor will fine-tune your prescription with different lenses to ensure you receive the most accurate prescription (if necessary).
- Cover test: This test measures how well your eyes work together by focusing on a specific point.
- Biomicroscope: Using a special device, your eye doctor will be able to examine your cornea, iris, lens, & retina to look for any signs of disease.
- Tonometer: While staring at a target, your optometrist will use a machine to measure the pressure inside your eye.
You may be asked to perform additional assessments depending on your ocular health, lifestyle, vision needs, or any medical concerns you may have. Our goal is to ensure you receive the best possible eye care.
