Our Practice in North York

Dr. Rana Taji is the owner and Medical Director of Toronto Medical Eye Associates in North York, Ontario. 

She is a lecturer, offering subject matter expertise on dry eye disease. In addition, she partakes in multiple pharmaceutical projects, and serves as an adjunct faculty clinical supervisor for student doctors from US and Canadian Optometry schools. With multiple conference presentations, participations in publications, and extensive lecturing, Dr. Taji has a keen focus and passion for dry eye disease diagnosis and management.

She has been in clinical practice since 2010, obtaining her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the Michigan College of Optometry and her fellowship in Ocular Disease from the American Academy of Optometry, of which she is an active member. She practices full-scope comprehensive care, with a particular emphasis on ocular disease management and treatment. Prior to practicing in Canada, she worked at a large Ophthalmology clinic in Northern Virginia, enjoying full scope of practice, being on call for ocular emergencies, and serving as a clinical sub-investigator on several FDA clinical trials. Following her practice in Virginia, she joined a Glaucoma sub-specialty Ophthalmology clinic in Kingston, Ontario where she continued her passion for ocular disease treatment. She actively manages glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy and manages and treats a whole range of chronic conditions like dry eye disease, blepharitis, and emergency eye care. 

Dr. Taji has extensive knowledge in pre- and post-operative care for refractive and cataract surgery patients. She has taken a special interest in the treatment and management of Glaucoma and Dry Eye disease and has a significant amount of experience managing these often difficult conditions for many.

She is excited to have returned to her roots, having grown up in the greater Toronto area. She is enthusiastic about continuing to provide a high standard of care to her patients.

Her Optometric affiliations include being a fellow and active member of the American Academy of Optometry. She is licensed to practice Optometry in Ontario, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dr. Taji enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has two active and energetic boys that always have her on the go. She enjoys traveling, running, kayaking, and trying different restaurants and cuisines.

Dr. Gray is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and is on Active Staff at St Michael’s Hospital. Following an undergraduate degree at Trinity College and an MSc in Physiology at UofT, Dr. Gray completed her medical degree at Queen’s University. She then returned home to Toronto for her Ophthalmology Residency, receiving fellowship certification from both the Royal College in Canada and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. 

Dr. Gray has served on the Executive Committees of both the Department of Ophthalmology and the OMA Section on Ophthalmology. As Director of Undergraduate Education for the Department, she received the Atkins Award in a faculty-wide competition for excellence in teaching and course design. Working towards retirement, Dr. Gray continues to teach medical students and residents the importance of comprehensive care with a special interest in medical glaucoma management. 

She looks forward to more time with her 2 granddaughters and her already-retired husband and friends. Future plans also include more classical music, traveling, volunteering, and the cottage.

Dr. Muneera Haji has been a practicing optometrist since 2007. She does comprehensive eye exams for the whole family. Dr. Haji graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry and her Bachelor’s in Science. She has participated in International Vision missions in both Chile and Peru to provide eye care for the less fortunate. 

In addition to working in private practice, Dr. Haji conducts eye exams at various nursing home facilities in the GTA. Dr. Haji is a member of the Canadian Optometric Association as well as the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is a very dedicated and family-oriented person. She has two active children that always keep her on her toes. Dr. Haji loves to swim, cycle and travel with her friends and family.

Dr. Clara Tsui grew up in the Scarborough and North York areas of Toronto. She completed her undergraduate studies and Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, graduating with Excellent Academic Standing and Dean’s List Honours and acting as Vice President of her class.  

She is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. During her studies, she completed her Ocular Disease internship in Bethesda, Maryland, and participated in an eye care mission trip to China. Dr. Tsui speaks Cantonese and English and enjoys working with patients of all ages.

Prior to joining Toronto Medical Eye Associates, Annie had been a clinical manager/administrator to Dr. Gray for the past 26 years. She completed her Ophthalmic Technician certificate at Centennial College in 1994. 

Working in a medical practice has taught her to interact with different patients’ needs and to truly enjoy it at the same time! Annie is passionate about her work and all of the people that she interacts with on a daily basis every day.  She values the lessons and skills she has acquired being a team lead, and she finds them useful in all aspects of her life. 

Annie is a professional, solution-oriented individual who is a true team player. She is an integral part of the Toronto Medical Eye Associates team! Annie cherishes her time with family and friends. She loves to try different things, travel, and is at her best when she is cooking as it is her therapy; the next best thing to retail therapy!

Ria has been working in an Ophthalmology clinic for over 14 years. She finished an Ophthalmic Assisting course in 2006 at Centennial College and holds a BSc in Commerce major CSIS from the Philippines.

She is a wonderful assistant to the doctors, performing preliminary workups. She is highly trained to perform a variety of tests on patients such as visual fields, Heidelberg, ocular coherence tomography, and retinal imaging. She is also skilled in performing supportive administrative tasks for the clinic. Her overall experience has been wonderfully rewarding and she hopes to continue her passion for helping others. 

In her spare time, she loves spending it with family while also making sure to make time for a little self-care. She enjoys traveling, online shopping, and browsing social media.

Jenny graduated as an associate in Computer Science in the Philippines. She worked in a pharmaceutical company and as a Clerk in her small city in the Phillipines. Coming to Canada with her family was a dream she wanted to pursue for a better future.  

She completed her studies at Medix College as a medical office assistant.  

Jenny feels  privileged to be working here at Toronto Medical Eye Associates where is able to assist patients, getting to know them and hearing their stories.  

Jenny enjoys spending time with her son and engaging in many activities like hiking and baseball. We love having Jenny as part of our team.
